One Small Step Forward – Three Tickets Issued During Speed Checks in Coates

Considering our MVAS Boxes have recorded speeds in excess of 100mph (night-time) and the average for the A605 through Coates is well over 30mph, these were the unlucky ones.
So we’ve had some Parking Tickets (that has been ongoing) and now some Speeding Tickets – I’ve had complaints the Police are heavy handed? – Can’t win….

Another day of us responding to your concerns, this time addressing speeding in Coates!

We carried out speed checks along Coates Road on Saturday, in response to your concerns about people not slowing down to 30mph when driving through the village.

Three tickets were given to drivers going 37mph, 38mph, and 40mph in a 30mph zone, who all told us they weren’t paying attention! It is important to be aware of speed limits changing as they are there to protect everyone.

We also carried out speed checks along East Delph in Whittlesey, and the 60mph stretch of Coates Road, and we’re pleased to say no one was caught speeding on this occasion – but we could be back at any time!

It was great to hear such positive feedback from those who stopped to speak to us.
