On hearing the sad news of Geoff Capes passing away, brought back a few memories.
Around 1975 I had a local policewoman Susan V as a ‘friend’ but never materialised into anything serious, after my return to sea, she then started a brief relationship with Geoff.
(no competition then?)
However in 1997 when a ‘new’ stroke/rehabilitation unit was commissioned at Peterborough Hospital and my wife Connie was the Ward Sister.
The official opening was with Geoff Capes and she was somewhat surprised at the event.
She was the Ward Manager/Sister of the Stroke unit for some 23 years.
