Concessionary Bus Travel Across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire

Plans have been approved to make all-day bus travel free for those who hold a concessionary bus pass.
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Board approved the planslast week (October 16) – which are set to come into effect in May next year.

Currently, concessionary bus pass holders in the region are only permitted free travel during off-peak hours, starting at 9.30am on weekdays.

A spokesperson for the combined authority said: “With these new plans, pass holders will be able to use their passes for free travel at all hours, providing them with greater flexibility.

Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Dr Nik Johnson, commented: “This is another positive step forward in our work to make buses meet the needs of our communities. For many people of pension age or who have disabilities, the bus is a lifeline, so I’m pleased this extra support is coming in May to help reduce cost and support their day-to-day lives.”
