Rogue trading warning to residents.
We have been made aware of an incident in Whittlesey where an elderly man was almost conned out of £1,600 by suspected rogue traders who offered to fix broken roof tiles for him. The man refused, and a family member alerted the police, but it could’ve been a very different story.
Rogue traders target vulnerable people, and we are urging residents to look out for relatives and neighbours, especially if they are elderly or have other vulnerabilities.
Please be aware of rogue traders, and never allow cold callers into your house or sign up to any work being carried out straight away.
Report any similar instances to us, but also remember to stay alert and be cautious of any door-step traders.
Advice on door-to-door and courier fraud can be found on our website.
If you have experienced something similar or witness any suspicious activity in your community, please report it to us.
Kind regards,
