A message from the King’s Dyke project team:
It was fantastic to officially open the new bridge over the King’s Dyke level crossing last week (Monday, 11 July). The hard work continues after hitting this major milestone with attention now focusing on the existing A605.
Work includes completing the eastern roundabout tie-in where there will be approximately two more weeks of two-way traffic lights, operating 24 hours a day until completion. We’d like to thank you for your patience and sticking to the temporary 20mph speed limit that is in place while construction work continues.
It has been brought to our attention, with the hot weather and following the bridge opening, people have noticed the ‘lake’ next to the new bridge – this is actually called Star Pit and it is private land. Residents will be able to tell you the history better than us, but it used to be an old quarry, it is extremely deep and dangerous so please don’t be tempted to swim or use Star Pit.
Finally, we know how well our videos go down so we have pulled together a timelapse one, which shows the work done from the very beginning to the opening of the bridge –
